A5 (an abbreviation for Asian Americans in the Arts & Athletics) being an important Asian student union at my school, I focused on ensuring A5 had a memorable image using bold fonts and colors that would draw members in, prove effective in gaining noticeability online, and become a recognizable voice of activism and outreach. My role was to create and maintain this image on Instagram and in merchandise, poster artwork, presentations, and locker signs, but fellow club leaders helped with the researched information and photography used in many of the example designs displayed. Thanks to the online traction from this rebranding, opportunities to work with the school’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion officer and help host a Stop Asian Hate vigil in my city arose, increasing A5’s impact and transforming it from a simple high school club into an important community organization and voice for the Asian American community.
